Our people
Our CDT brings together over 50 expert academic supervisors in physics, chemistry, materials science, and engineering, with research leading to over 4,000 publications and £120 million in funding.
Their discoveries span light-matter interactions in 2D materials, nanofluidics and the properties of matter under extreme confinements. Notable innovations include proton-conducting membranes, advanced filtration technologies, ultraclean heterostructures, and breakthroughs in imaging and spectroscopy. Their work also supports quantum technologies, polymer reinforcement, and electrochemical actuators, resulting in numerous patents and spin-out companies.

Student representatives
We will also have current students join the Management Board to represent the interests of the CDT student community.
Advisory board
The Advisory Board, consisting of representatives from the CDT partners, will guide the overall direction and maintain quality control of the CDT. They will convene annually with the Management Board to provide valuable insights and recommendations on CDT policies and operations. Additionally, the Advisory Board will engage directly with CDT students through meetings, student presentations, and poster sessions, offering them an opportunity to showcase their research projects.
